Anyone ever dye leather?

I found a couch that I love, but it's leather is stained. Has anyone ever dyed leather? How did it turn out?

you can paint the couch, dying it would be possible but harder I think as the dark spots would look darker still, afterwards if you're not careful. try: http://snazzylittlethings.com/diy-painting-leather/ ...there are other kinds of paint as well, specifically designed for furniture. You can also use paint you already have, if you mix it with a fabric medium for flexibility...it's a cool couch, I hope your project goes well :D
  • I went to see the sofa (forty minutes away!), and the woman wasn't there. Grrr. :( Guess I won't be getting it. Maybe a good thing because I haven't heard good things about dying leather. Oh well, I'm sure the right sofa will come along.

That is a pity but if you get it I saw on an English program where the lady painted the leather and waxed well.

could you use shoe polish to stain it and then wax it or something?
