How do I create large stencils for painting designs on my concrete patio?

You could use old x-rays for the templates - wash them in bleach, using a scrubbing brush to get rid of the black ink. Otherwise have a design enlarged at a photocopy shop that specialises in printing architectural plans. Trace it out onto cardboard and use that as your template. If you are looking for large designs, those used for stained glass designs might be a good starting point.
