I've come across a handful of corkboards that have seen better days. Each one is unique in size, shape, and how badly they are damaged. Each one has received a makeover to breath new life and fun into them, making them perfect for command centers or display boards.
This one was the least damaged with just superficial marks. I've been wanting to do a stenciled message board, and loved the size of this one. I also loved that it was already painted dark brown, so that all I needed was to brighten it up before finally distressing to let the brown through. As I was sanding the edges, I discovered a turquoise surprise shining through the brown. How perfect! This beauty is going to her new home with a friend soon.
This display board is proudly hanging in my boys' room. They needed a large piece of art and this is both cool and functional. After covering some ugly holes in the cork with a nice large piece of burlap, I got down to business hand drawing all the elements of a treasure map. The boys are proud and excited to have this hanging in their room. Both took liberties contributing ideas of what they wanted to see displayed. It is one of my most favorite transformations to date.
