What happens when you run out of wood flooring!

While working on refurbishing and refinishing our dining room floor, we ran out of wood! Mercifully, there was more wood available in the adjacent living room. Though it required us to use Plan B, both the dining room and living room eventually were finished!

Phillip Williams on Nov 16, 2013We just added additional oak flooring in a 100 year old house. After removing four fireplaces we bought 200 square feet of new oak flooring at a local "big box" store to fill in the holes. We interwove the new wood with the old until we had the floor covered. We then rented a sander and went over everything until we had removed all the staining from the old wood. After refinishing with 2 coats of clear polyurethane you couldn't tell where the patches were and the entire floor looked brand new.
