Old Field Stone Patio
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 04, 2012If this is a raised patio deck with the field stone on the top. Then the only way to fix this issue is to completely remove all of the stone and rework the sub surface below. If you do not do this you will find that any replacement stones will only last a short time. You have a few choices for this. Carefully remove as many of the stones that you can salvage. Dig down about eight inches or so. Then have a local mason contractor pour a new cement slab in place. While the cement is still wet have them set the old stones back into the surface to give it a stone top look. The other method which is something you suggested yourself is to place a new deck over the top of the old patio. Just be sure however that the deck is properly secured by footings and not relying on the elevated older patio or it will risk settlement causing it to go out of level. Take some photos of the project and post them here. I am sure there will be lots of other great ideas once people see what your working with.Helpful Reply
