SLS Construction & Building Solutions LLC on Sep 29, 2014Before doing anything crazy, get it tested and then install a filtration system that can handle those. Of course you could probably start with a pre-filter before the test results come back if you like. For more: http://blog.sls-construction.com/2012/going-off-grid-water-filtrationHelpful Reply

The Garden Frog with C Renee on Sep 29, 2014I have to tell you that years ago when we had to rent a house while we built ours-we bought an AMWAY under sink filter and it was amazing! the water was actually contaminated and not drinkable and we had installed the filter and had it tested and it eliminated the yuck in the water and it was drinkable. So we had a 500' well drilled and put in an Amway filter for drinking and the water was so good. No smell that you sometimes get with well water. We also had a water softener which I miss dearly and one day I hope to have another one. hope this helpsHelpful Reply

Lee Cunningham Green on Sep 29, 2014Not all wells are so negative, there are many factors. and getting your water tested is a good thing to do. I had a well 275 foot deep, after 7 years of drought the water smelled, There was harmless sulfur in the water. I paid a ton of money for a filtration system, and it began to rain, the rain continued with normal levels for the next 20 years. I needed the system that I couldn't return for 3 months. testing the water to discover there was nothing wrong with it, and it no longer had the smell at all.Helpful Reply
