Hand-Tied Toile Bunting = Instant Decor Accent

After attending the Country Living Fair this year, I noticed that white was definitely the "in" color this fall. This is perfect because I intend to lighten up my decor this season. Another item was hand-tied buntings! So about a week later, I remembered that I had a remnant piece of toile fabric. It doesn't get any easier than this...creating a hand-tied bunting as a simple accent for your home.
Remnant fabric and twine = instant seasonal (or year round) embellishment. I definitely have areas of my house that are in dire need of lightening up. I think I can even leave this up most of the winter. I can move it around my home, and it may end up in my 10 year old daughter's room at some point. She loves it!
We are changing the lighting and extending the wooden mantel from the prefab wood that came with the house.
Just cut your fabric into into strips. Cut them long enough that when doubled, they hang to your desired length.
Form a loop with the fabric. Lay across the twine. Loop the ends of the toile fabric through itself so it attaches to the twine. It really is so simple.
Once we hung the toile, we talked about other mantel upgrades. We decided to upgrade our lighting over the fireplace...I have issues with the standard lighting that came with the house. Time for an upgrade!
Love these new, vintage-industrial lights from National Builder Supply. You can purchase these here: http://www.nationalbuildersupply.com/kichler-braelyn-43060oz-olde-bronze/p426663
The lights are from the brand, Kichler.
our next step...we want to upgrade that wood mantel. It's just so basic and standard (like much of my house). More to come on that project.
A glimpse of the things I spotted at the Country Living Fair.
