Before & After Antique Couch to Deconstructed Bench

Check out the AFTER! My neighbors gave me this old couch. It is 100+ years old. I fell in love with the legs of the couch and I knew the springs were going to be awesome too. After much discussion about putting the couch on the curb for big trash day a very creative friend gave me an idea.
My friend suggested I cut the back of the couch and turn it into a bench.
After removing the back the couch it sat in my attic for months. I had a vision for what I wanted the bench to be like but I wasn't sure how to add the 2x4's.
Finally, when I had a contractor here (for three months) to remodel my bathroom I asked him for suggestions. And viola! He took the couch (now bench) to his workshop and added 2x4's. I distressed the new wood and had a cushion made for the couch. Check out the after which currently resides in my boys bedroom.

Would love to see finished bench. Web page would not open. Also what did you do with the back and arms?

I am sorry. The link is open now. I had to throw the arms out but I saved the back. It was full of awesome springs. I can't wait to do something with those.
