Keeping oak cabinets natural

Funnygirl on Oct 01, 2014Murphy's oil soap. But if you decide you do want to paint them wipe down with tsp(at any hardware store).you will dissolve in a bucket of water and a wet rag.wear gloves and make sure kitchen if well ventilated, and eye protection. This is serious cleaning. Then prime and paint. For inspiration,go to Pinterest, look under painted furniture/cabinets.The possibilities are endless. The golden oak especially if the entire kitchen is all oak cabinets does look dated to meHelpful Reply

Funnygirl on Oct 01, 2014Or,a dark espresso stain would be slightly easier to do and will make them updated too.Ask the hardware store for help.I highly recommend if you decide on stain, to roll it on with a foam roller in one direction only, unless you decide to invest about 100.00 for a decent sprayer, taking the fronts down and spraying them outside making sure it is not a windy day!Helpful Reply

Funnygirl on Oct 09, 2014Last ditch effort to clean cabinets, use a rag soaked in mineral spirits,it will strip your finish but should remove any thing stuck on the finish. You will then need to reapply a protective polyurethane because it will most likely be partially removed from the mineral spirits .Helpful Reply
