  • We tore out our existing backsplash and created a custom hood above the cooktop. I opted to use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to help me achieve the french country feel I was looking for. Working on finishing up the rest of the cabinet doors 4

  • So easy to do this! You don't even need elbow grease! http://www.thevspotblog.com/2011/07/cleaning-stove-burners-grates-best.html
  • Ick! (I cook a lot... don't you judge me.) ;)
  • Take the disgusting, yucky burner and seal it up in a big Ziploc-type bag with about 1/4 cup of ammonia and let it sit overnight.
  • The same burner, 12 hours and no scrubbing later. Ammonia fumes have worked their magic. It's the fumes that dissolve the grease, not the ammonia itself.

An easy spring cleaning tip for one of the worst jobs in the house!

My stove burners get absolutely disgusting. Sealing them up with a tiny bit of pure ammonia makes it possible to just wipe clean with a sponge. #SpringCleaning http://www.thevspotblog.com/2011/07/cleaning...

DIY Spice Rack

I always wanted a nice rack. Well, now I love my rack, spice rack that is. lol! I teamed up with my hubby, Ethan of One Project Closer to build a custom spice rack for our kitchen. Ethan ...»
took the dimensions I gave him and used 3/4" plywood and scraps of poplar and oak to build the frame and shelves. Once built, he handed it over to me to paint and ModPodge scrapbook paper to the backing.

The construction of the Rack was a fairly simple woodworking project and could be simplified with less shelves. The painting and paper backing was very simple and overall a cheap way to add color and interest.

Sweet combination

I combined a bit of annuals with my perennials for this result. I think it turned out pretty. What do you all think? Behind (almost in bloom) is Becky Daisy. Angelonia, Verbena, Stokesia, &
