  • A gate and sawhorse meant for outdoors share a life together indoors these days. The bedding was created by throwing loose linens on top of a quilt. Sheets were tucked in between the mattresses for a full length look.

  • The hooks offer all kinds of fun seasonal decor. Today it's summer. What will it become in fall? Hmmm... 1
  • I just like messy beds. They look soft and full, so I enhance it further with crumply pillows and a top sheet thrown across the width for colour and fullness. 2

A horse gate and sawhorse... for bedroom furniture

I'll admit, this is not your typical bedroom suite! But I find great joy out of creating something from basically nothing. And such was the case with this project. ...»

Both the gate and sawhorse were found in another's burn pile. The gate received some fun hooks, the 'bedding' was created from some sheets and linens on hand and the bedroom was complete! For free. :)

Vegetable garden

This is my vegetable garden. I paint a different sign and put up for each season or holiday. My compose tumbler is behind the fence.

  • All the rustic bling makes for a fun focal point in the backyard. The white planter box use to be a firetruck parts crate. A couple pallets offer a front step and side walkway. A rusty old vintage headboard became a gate. 9
  • The before. The lovely cow mural was hand painted by a friend, which now is safely in storage until it lands a new location. 4
  • Odds and sods were used to create a door. The wreath is made from canning jar lids. 6
  • Junky relics chime in well with bright red geraniums. 2

A rustic shed made from reclaimed lumber

A little green house in my backyard received a facelift. The plastic was replaced with repurposed fencing boards captured from another's burn pile, a few barn windows, then the decorating ...»
began. Junky relics were added to create a fun focal point which now houses firewood.

This shed is part of a 4 part series showing the entire build. Lots more to see!

  • My new $20 La-Z-Boy recliner. I couldn't believe such a bargain. I love the size and style for this room. Actually in really great shape, however I will have it recovered in a fabric that goes with my room. Next week off to look. 1

I purchased these chairs off of Craigslist for $25. They have great legs! I took a chance on going bold with them...and I'm glad that I did!

A Pallet Garden: Have you ever built one?

My friend constructed this garden completely from pallets. She filled it with rich amended soil and you would not believe the crop she has harvested this year. For more details....check out http://www.thistlewoodfarms.com/the-pallet-t...

  • This cookies is white yes, but it is fully cooked and so delicious. A little chewy, but loaded with flavor. I always add lemon peel and lemon juice and the marriage of flavors is heavenly!!

Lavender Cookies are so elegant and simple.

I learned a trick from another baker years ago and that is to let your oven preheat for double the time it says. The oven will be perfect for baking then. Also most cookies only need to bake 7 minutes! Yes, just 7 minutes and then take them out and let set on baking sheet for 3 or 4 more minutes before removing.
