Upcycled Black Pulpit Bookshelf With Light

I ran across this great, older church pulpit/podium that a friend pickup at an auction and had to have it. The shelves in the back were already setup. So I added some baseboards and changed the microphone parts out for a vintage lamp with an adjustable goose neck. Then I custom painted and distressed the piece!
I chose black paint to give it a gothic vibe. The paint is General Finishes' milk paint. The dark wax is Annie Sloan.
I really distressed the top to represent actual years of wear.
The shelves in the back were already there and are perfect as a small bookcase or a place to tuck away a collection.
Deep! Rich!
The cross artwork on the front really starts the whole vibe that inspired me.

I need something like this to keep my huge 4" thick old dictionary on! It is falling apart so I had to get a new one but refuse to part with it!
    • @Jeanette S Nothing cooler than those huge dictionaries. Definitely don't part with it. I wish you were closer so you could get teh pulpit from me! Thanks Jeanette!
