A Miraculous Dresser Re-hab by Somewhat Quirky Design

This poor dresser had been in a barn for 40 years! And then, bless her heart, she had to sit in my garage for 2 more years. But she's a beauty now!
I did a lot of sanding. Sanding is my preferred method of cleaning when I'm confronted with a really dry and dirty piece.
Unfortunately a little sanding accident caused a bunch of veneer to break off the top. I used Bondo to repair the veneerless places. Note to self - Bondo is a wonderful filler, but it does NOT have wood grain. It is very hard and very smooth, but there will be a different feel to it than the wood.
I painted pretty much every surface. The green is St Anne, by Masion Blanche.
The starfish knobs were bronzy so I painted them white. Both styles of knobs came from Hobby Lobby.
I love the finish. I used Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Flow Blue and two coats of MMS White Wax. The lines of this dresser would lend themselves to a fancier paint job, but the condition of the wood was too rough for that.
Don't you think she's beautiful now?

Connie on Mar 01, 2015My husband bought a dresser like that at an auction that was totally taken apart when he bought it. He had to replace the bottoms of a few of the drawers and the holes for the drawer pulls were so worn out he cut out Texas shapes where the drawer pulls had been and cut more Texas shapes out of a different type of wood, Then we bought rustic Texas stars drawer pulls and placed them in the middle of each Texas. He restained the dresser and it turned out beautiful.
