Wood Stain Porcelain Deer

by Trent-Tonya Sharp
Found this porcelain deer at a Dirt Cheap for a $1 had the old wood stain from another project so this is what I came up with.
Mixed the to stains together so I would have enough to cover the deer.
Got a bucket and placed the deer in and just poured the stain on him. I didnt have a big enough old bowl or bucket for it to just sit in.
Poured the rest of it on the deer and sat it in the sun all day to dry.
Finished product..I love how shiny it is.

    Thanks to all.
  • I have a piece to try this technique with but it has a clear shiny coat. I can't tell from your photo if your piece started out that way or not. He sort of looks like he had a matte look and took to the stain because of it? Query. Great look though! I'd love to paint my bird something bright using unicornSpit or whatever. I haven't used that before either! I'm a virgin!
