French Two Toned Coffee Table

When you go to yard sales do you ever see pieces and just immediately have a plan for them? That's how I was with this totally eighties coffee table.
I found this piece at a yard sale for free.

I was buying two other pieces, and when I asked the price of this one she told me I could have it for free if I bought the other two.

Score!

It was no beauty. It had hunter green legs and an orange top (I forgot to take the photo before I sanded off the orange). Very festive for Halloween, but not for

anyone’s living room.
I started by sanding off all the orange paint with my electric sander. I was psyched to see what good shape the wood was in underneath.

I then painted the legs of the table with two coats of Plaster Paint in Grey Silk.

Once the paint had dried, I distressed it and used a coat of both clear and dark wax to age it.
I then stained the top of the table with two coats of Minwax stain in Dark Walnut.
I then stenciled the top and coated the top in a poly.
I was really happy with the way it turned out!
