Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Oct 10, 2014I am currently working on a 36 inch solid wood door. I used two short file cabinets on each end. The hole where the knob used to be is where all the wires for my computers come through so the top is against the wall. With your bookcases simply mount them on the wall above the desk so you have a place to store all the papers and things you need to use.Helpful Reply

Wendy Johnson on Oct 10, 2014I used a door and two stools, never even fastened it to the stools because the stools fit in the 2 flat areas of the door. My dtr did not believe me that it would be stable(her computer is sitting on it) but it is.Helpful Reply

Trish Davenport on Oct 10, 2014I just did almost the same thing. Walmart had 2 bookcases on sale for $38. Yes, $38 for two. I took a piece of birch we had laying around and faux finished it, polyurethaned it and put it on top; of the bookcases. My new craft desk. It's high enough for my barstool.Helpful Reply
