Hello, I had the same problem with my new Maytag side by side. It had a design flaw, the drain in the freezer would freeze up, then I would have a mess on the floor. I used to empty the freezer, take it apart once a month, use my blow dryer to thaw it then pout it back together, lesson learned, I will never buy a Maytag appliance again, as they could care less about this issue.
A clogged drain inside the freezer or refrigerator compartment can lead to water overflow. Empty the contents of the refrigerator and freezer, and wipe out the drain using a solution of warm water and soap. The drains typically are located in the back corners of the food compartments, and can become clogged by food debris or ice.
