Preventing Mold Growth

I love my terra cotta pots because of their color and texture. However, I noticed black mold on my table when I moved the plants to clean. I cleaned and disinfected the saucers, waited for them to completely dry, and hot glued glass beads (it's what I had on hand).
Adding "lift" to a terra cotta saucer to increase air circulation underneath.

Susan, for my formal dining table, I have an easy-to-wash placemat underneath to protect that table. The kitchen table has a thick coat of laquer that protects from all sorts of stuff. Yes, I will keep checking; great idea!
  • A major mold infestation can damage your home and your health! If you are leading with mold, as far as I can tell you, you can clean it up fairly easily. Apply disinfectants, including commercial anti-mold products, vinegar, tea-tree oil, or grapefruit seed extract. Allow the area to air dry. This way you can protect your space from black mold.
