Use burlap to reline planters!
by

For only twenty dollars, I bought a whole bolt of burlap and relined my hayrack planters. New pre-formed liners would have cost over eighty dollars! I lined with newspaper, added soil and plants and mulched with the old cocoa fiber liners - so nothing was wasted.Plus , I still have lots of burlap for other projects! http://ourfairfieldhomeandgarden.com or http://pinterest.com/barbrosen/our-fairfield-garden/

Jennifer G on Apr 13, 2014What a wonderful idea! Burlap works great in the garden as a weed guard too! My mom used unbleached muslin or burlap to help keep weeds down. She just put it down over the bare soil before planting, then cut slits in it where she planted her veggies. Worked Great!

Tina Aus on Feb 15, 2016In your basket I noticed you have pine needle mulch....where did you buy it. I have a couple of trees that drop it naturally, but I have several other garden beds that I would like to add it to. I live in Washington state and am having a hard time finding it. Thanks

Barb Rosen on Feb 16, 2016@Tina Aus ~ We have quite a few large White Pines on our property and the pine needles I use for mulch are from what they drop each year. I would suggest asking at local nurseries and garden centers, perhaps it can be ordered for you!
