My First Commissioned Nightstands
by

I was commissioned to paint the following pair of nightstands for my father-in-law after he had seen my previous chalk painting nightstands.
I really wanted to make these nightstands personal and something that my in-laws would cherish. My husband and I came up with a brilliant concept for the nightstands. We both agreed that my grandchildren crazy in-laws, would be all over a family tree with the names of all their grandchildren.
And then I designed the grandchildren names using various fonts from “PicMonkey”.
Transferring the images to the nightstands was quite labor intensive. First, I covered the back of the image with pencil.
Then flipped over the page and start tracing the tree to create a carbon copy onto the nightstand.
Repeat the same process for names.
Filled in the image using permanent marker.
And here is the final product. In addition to a coat of clear wax for finish, I also added a touch of dark wax to give them an antique look.
