Z on Aug 22, 2012Judith it would help if you post a picture of the window you need help with please. I have five windows with arches in our home so I know the dilemma of covering them. I've not finished any of mine yet because I was working as a seamstress and made window treatments for my clients instead of taking time to finish my own. I've retired now and hopefully will soon have time to do my own. With photos of your window I can help you more though.Helpful Reply

Judith F on Aug 22, 2012Thank you Becky!I took a couple photos and hubby trying to figure out how to share with this site. The window has a treatment, that just doesn't work for me, but I like the fabric colors. I don't sew, but maybe handle a simple theme>Helpful Reply

Z on Aug 23, 2012Yep, I thought that's the type of window you were talking about. I thought about purchasing curved rods, but decided against it because it seemed as if it would be difficult to get anything hung on them to stay in place. Gravity wins every time. Because of that difficulty and the fact that my hubby is making all our trim I came up with an idea of how to make the trim squared like the other windows by cutting out the drywall and replacing it with wood. Since you have no trim at all I would suggest using a straight rod hung just above the top edge of the arch. In doing so you might be able to make your current (very pretty) window treatments work for you. Even if you want to get another treatment it will still make it easier to dress your windows. I'm adding a couple pictures of our windows (only one has trim so far) to explain what my plans are. I wish they were complete, but hopefully my explanations will help give you a couple ideas.Helpful Reply

Judith F on Aug 23, 2012Thank you for taking the time to post this, I will give it some thought. I could do just do the straight rods. You are right about the curved rods, big pain.Helpful Reply

Z on Aug 23, 2012You're welcome Judith. I really think straight rods are the best way to go. Wish my lady's parlor windows were trimmed and my bathroom curtains made and hung so you'd better get the idea of what it would look like. Maybe just put your current curtains on a rod and have them held in place by two people while you stand back and take photos and see what you think.Helpful Reply
