Adding built-in floating furniture to guest room
by
Philip C
(IC: homeowner)
I built shelves onto the walls in the guest room. They appear to be floating.
Advice:
Make your shelves before ever nailing anything. Give your stain ample time to dry before putting up. Make sure the shelf bottoms will fit flush against the wall and do not stick out! Also make sure you are on a stud so the shelves will support a little weight. Varnish outside and give the smell time to dissipate. Cheap way to update a room, especially a guest room.
The paint treatment here was the hardest part. I nailed the shelves onto the wall and then put the shelf bottoms o to close them in.
Materials:
stain, screw gun, mdf, varnish - $0.00
