Bedroom Make Over

Decorating a guess bedroom
*Options I considered for this project:
Not a lot of options here. I had a very small budget, so I had to do it myself. As for the floor, it was carpet or repair what I had already
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
There was no sub flooring! So we used 2x4's to secure the bottom. For this we had to go under the house.
* Cost Comments:
$2.03 per sq ft
*My motivation to do this project:
The bedroom was a mess! The floors needed to be refinished before I have guest for the holidays
*Project Steps:
We started with replacing the missing board in the floor. We went to Lowes and purchase 1x4 piece of wood. We also rented the drum sander to sand the floor. After we sand the floor, we use the shop Vac to clean floor. After making sure the floor was clean, we added Minwax Provincial stain. The next day we added the first coat of Minwax Super-fast Dry poly to protect the floor. 6 hrs After the first coat you can buff the floors . The next day we put a final coat of poly on and waited for it to dry. Then we moved the furniture in, first the bed frame that I picked up at a yard sale and the vanity and chair. I took scrap pieces of wood and made a shelf for candles and small items.
For the night table, I used a stool topped with a piece of marble.
Materials:
Wood, Minwax Stain and Ploy - $0.00
Sand Paper - $0.00
Rented Drum Sander - $0.00
Bedframe - $0.00

Michelle Quinn on Mar 03, 2014Looks really pretty. I found that the sander that we rented didn't work well but you ate making me rethink this.
