Remodeling the Stair Case
*Options I considered for this project:
We debated doing it ourselves but we ultimately decided to hire a contractor for this project.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
Aside from finding the right contractor, we really didn't have anything unexpected come up with this project
* Cost Comments:
Most of the job supplies were supplied by the contractor and was figured into his quote. We did hav
*My motivation to do this project:
The old stair case made the living room and hallway to the basement feel closed off. We wanted to open up the stairs to open up the living room and hallway.
*Project Steps:
We did multiple web searches for contractors that do stair case installation and also asked our families and friends if they knew of anyone that could do the work for us. We ended up going with a contractor that was recommended by a friend of ours.
Advice:
Would definitely recommend the right contractor. We met with several to make sure we found someone that would do quality work for us.

    Normally they don't want any handrail sticking out like that because a sleeve could get caught on it. Here in Houston, Tx the inspectors would not pass it. They would require the handrail to turn the corner and keep going up in one solid continuous piece to prevent clothing catching it. The 4 inch gaps could just be the photo. Either way, great looking project. I enjoy the look of balusters without the base booties. it looks very clean.
