by Robert P
Replacing original carpet to wood flooring.
*Options I considered for this project:
Different colors and textures of wood. Even tile was considered.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
The sub-floor was not even. So that caused a problem right off the bat.
*My motivation to do this project:
To create more of an open feeling in my living room and to make it easier to clean.
*Project Steps:
I went to the internet and studied the differrent installation techniques from different sites.
Went to Lowe's a got advice on materials and tools for installation from a very knowledgable
sales associate who just happened to be an expert in floorong installation.
Advice:
Make sure you have enough flooring as some wood will be warped or broken. Have a good saw
and other tools to make sure the final floor looks uniform.
Materials:
wood flooring - $1200.00
Hardie Board - $200.00
Subfloor I used Harsdie Board
Bruce Flooring in a rich Oak
Some of my tools I used!
My humble abode!
The Before photo of my living room .

You should just take up all the carpet , pad , staples , and tack strip ..Cut your door jambs a 16th inch bigger than wood , Then right on subfloor put down roofing paper/ tar paper..The hardie board you bought take it back for the roofing paper ...You'll save yourself about $180.00 ...Good Luck !!
