If you have a sheen to the walls they need to be sanded even with the no prep paints. Here is a link to pinterest for some inspirations and how to's http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=White%20washed%20walls&term_meta%5B%5D=White%7Ctyped&term_meta%5B%5D=washed%7Ctyped&term_meta%5B%5D=walls%7CtypedHelpful Reply

Patti Paints on Oct 21, 2014You can use Annie Sloan chalk paint (really not a chalk paint, just has that kind of look when dry). Her paint sticks to almost anything without prep work. Just make sure the shiplap is free of dirt and grime and slap on the paint. You can distress the shiplap with sandpaper once it’s dry to achieve the look you’re going for. Check out “Annie Sloan Chalk Paint” on Pinterest and you’ll get tutorials and numerous color combinations and ideas. Her product is only available through specialty stores. Check online where you can find it in your area. I’ve done numerous projects with her paint, it’s wonderful paint!Helpful Reply
