Landscaped Backyard

My yard was plain and backed up to a retention pond. So I added a fence and lush landscaping.
*Options I considered for this project:
I considered doing all the same tree across the back instead of mixing it with plants, flowering bushes and trees.
*Questions and unexpected events that arose during the project:
How much I needed to build up the yard that was right up against the fencing. There is a drop off beyond the fence and by raising the ground inside my yard it made the plantings more interesting and stance higher.
*My motivation to do this project:
I hated looking at a plain fenced yard.
*Project Steps:
It helped me to sketch out what I wanted the backyard to look at. Then I went to my local nursery and explained to the sales associate which way my backyard faced and they were helpful in picking out plants that do well in full sun, partial shade etc.
Advice:
It's best to price out the plants and trees you want to purchase. They can be very expensive. Make sure you choose plantings that requiire the amount of care you are willing to provide.
Materials:
rose bushes (2) - $60.00
Assorted shrubs and trees - $350.00
