How to fix a cracked corrian countertop

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Oct 21, 2014One of the great things about a Solid Surface countertop is it can be repaired! You need to find a counter company that sells this product. First off you need to know what brand it is. There are several. Obtain sample chips of that manufacture that matches your top. Once you have that a 2 part epoxy is used to fill and fix the crack. A fine sandpaper and some polishing compound followed by some elbow grease and the top will look like new.Helpful Reply

Teresa littleford on Oct 22, 2014Corian is a solid surface and fully repairable. look for a solid surface fabricator in your area who can check if it is in fact Corian or another brand and quote and advise on the repair.Helpful Reply

Deborah on Oct 23, 2014I moved into a home in May, 1999 and the Corian island was cracked. First you need to know if it is Corian brand. Look in the cabinet under the sink (or close to the sink) there might be a piece of countertop glued to the back wall with model ID ect. If it is Corian, it is usually guaranteed for life from normal wear. My contact was Dupont Corian Warranty Service Center, Texas/Oklahoma. Toll 1-800-678-4885, telephone 1-972-366-8532, Fax 1-972-366-3222, Tom Hilbert, Certified Service Agent. Hopefully, they can give you the service center for your state. Mine was probably cracked from the previous teenagers sitting on and misusing the island. However, the agent said, we don't know how it happened so it's "normal wear". They replaced the island, rather than repair, because it was easier and cheaper and the slight difference in the two countertops was not noticable. I only saw it because they made me a couple of cutting boards out of the island material and when I put it on my other counters there was a slight color difference. They charged me $0 because it was a lifetime warranty. That was 15 years ago so who knows now? Just FYI, I have moved to a different house that was built in 1999 and has Corian like countertops. I don't have any material under my sink though. And I don't really know if they are Corian where as the other house I KNEW they were Corian. Hope this helps! Free is always good!Helpful Reply

Lorraine M on Oct 23, 2014My 20+ year old cracked Corion did NOT respond to the sandpaper method...just took off more of the finish. Finally gave up and replaced it with granite.Helpful Reply
