Bath tubs in master bath

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Oct 22, 2014No you do not need to add a tub to the master. As long as there is a tub elsewhere in the house, you should be ok. Ideally tubs in the master is a good idea, but trends are such that this is no longer the case. The only other thing I would suggest is that as we age it is sometimes important to have a tub that can be used and that is easily accessed. So during your planning stages, be sure to think about the aging in place designs that are available. Many are really nice.Helpful Reply

USHomeDevelopers on Oct 22, 2014You don't have to have a bath-tub at all. Many people don't even use it - and removing one gives you a lot more space. You can read more about it in a recent blog we've made on this very subject: http://www.ushomedevelopers.com/blog/2014/10/07/17-a-tub-full-of-tips-for-small-bathrooms Feel free to ask any questions.Helpful Reply

AvonelleRed on Oct 22, 2014When I bought my house (built in 1960), I had specifically been looking for a house WITHOUT a tub in the master bathroom. I much prefer showers, and as long as there was a tub in the other bathroom for my daughter to take her occasional bath, I was happy. She's the only one of the three of us who once in awhile soaks in the tub instead of showering.Helpful Reply

Designs by BSB on Oct 22, 2014I support all opinions shared thus far. Need for a tub is old school, but I would never discredit the homeowner, wife of the house, that loves the spa experience. So the question is - resale? how long do you plan to stay in the home? If 10-20yrs, that is typical life of any bath/kitchen. A must -- at least one bathtub must be in the home! I helped a client who was in a small traditional home - with a wicked small master. So they expanded the hall bath to include a large(r) soaker -- and made a grand master shower with seat. So many variables to consider!Helpful Reply

Juanice on Oct 23, 2014We love our shower but when you get older (60s) you get so many aches and pains. I am so proud we put a tub with jets in our new house so we can relax and soak and use Epsom salt for soreness. My husband has diverticulitus and a soak in a hot bath tub is his best relief.Helpful Reply

Ann on Oct 23, 2014I think you need a tub in the house for families with young children. Otherwise not necessary in the master.Helpful Reply
