Mrs. Butterworth Jar Witch

It started in 1991 when my mom gave me a box full of Mrs. Butterworth glass sryup jars. Halloween was fast approaching and I always made something for my children to give to their teachers, so I came up with a Mrs. Butterworth Witch!
After removing the labels and a good washing and drying, I set them on cardboard outside and got out my trusty black can of Flat spray paint. I gave the bottles 2 coats and let them sit for a day. In the meantime I cut black felt into circles, about the size of a drinking glass. One was for the brim of the witch hat. Another one was cut in half and one piece used for the cone of the hat. Cutting a small circle out of the brim piece, I then hot glued the cone piece (after gluing the seam together) into the circle. Way back then, I glued spanish moss to the cap of the bottle, for witch hair (I no longer do this) and hot glued the hat to the hair. Now time to decorate her! I painted her face and hands with a Leaf green and put paint dots where the buttons are on the glass dress. Some orange, purple or green ribbon on the hat and a store bought broom ( from Micheals) and my Mrs. Butterworth Witch came ALIVE!
The glass bottles are now found at thriftstores and yardsales. The sryup are now produced in plastic. When friends find these jars, they buy them for me. I have also seen Mammie, farmgirl and a clown painted up with these jars :)
