Lighting idea's for over the toilet with no electrical.

Question

Over the toilet in my bathroom is so dark.  There is no over head light and no outlet near it.  how can a light this area?

Could connect a pendant light on a swag from the existing light fixture on the ceiling. Or, perhaps one of those LED battery operated lights.

I put in a solartube. It requires no electrical at at all and is easy to install.Gives loads of light just in the right place even when the moon is shining I got it at Lowes.

I agree with Wanda. A solar tube is an excellent idea and would be my first choice. Another thought is look on the other side of the walls in the room. There may be an outlet you could use to hang a pendant (as Adrianne suggested) Lampsplus.com has one for $40 you just add your own shade, plus other plug in pendant styles. I had 2 large closets in my master bath. I put my vanity in one but the lighting wasn't enough. I poked a hole through the wall from the bedroom (behind a dresser) and ran an outlet strip through. Works great! There are battery operated lights. If they use led bulbs, they would last a long time on one set of batteries. I used a combo led light/fan all summer dry camping in state parks without electricity. I don't think it would be that expensive to run power to the room and put in a combination light/fan. Just a few ideas for you. Now I'm going to check out those lights at barn light electric!

I have this problem too with no electrical outlets in the powder room at all! Just last week, I swapped out the incandescent light bulb for a cfl that produces more light with lower wattage. This helped a good bit. Another idea is to add mirrors to the room to reflect the existing light.

You can find wireless lights that are battery operated. I have a night light in my bathroom that just sticks to the wall, away from my outlet (leaving me space to plug in my curling iron). I haven't had to change the batteries yet and I have had it for about 6 months.
