Why Are We So Drawn To Kitchens?

Someone once asked me why I love kitchens so much. I was a little taken aback, because no one had ever asked that question before! After all, I’ve been designing kitchens and baths for almost 20 years! I knew that I love the thrill of a challenging space. And I love coordinating the colors and fabrics.... But the question caused me to sit back, and really think about why this one room in our home is so special for me.
Every party starts or ends in the kitchen. It's called the heart of the home. Why are we so drawn to kitchens?
After some deep thinking, I came up with my reasons - http://www.randidestefano.com/memories-of-kitchens-past/ - which are here, on my blog. How about you? Why is this space so meaningful for us and our families?

Susan on Jan 07, 2013There are so many things that you can do to a kitchen compliment a home. Most homeowners love their kitchens when they get it the way they want or invision it. Color, cabinets, flooring, appliances, lighting and the flow. One day I will have that feeling. When hell freezes! LOL

Susie Lee on Nov 01, 2015Being half Italian, I relate food to family functions and great times making memories. The kitchen is the hub, or as you said, the heart of the home. We gather around a table of lovingly prepared foods passed on from our ancestors that make folks go Mmmmmmmm! With every bite. The kitchen is more than just a room. It's love!
