Toy Chest to Mini Cupboard

I've had this chest forever. My grandfather made it and it was my toy chest when I was a kid, then it became my storage chest and it moved with me when I left home and eventually when I moved continents. Then it became my children's toy chest. We don't have much space or storage in our tiny house and eventually the old chest looked like it may end up on the curb looking for a new home. Then I realised that if I turned it on it's side, it would fit perfectly next to my bed. A little makeover, a simple base/feet added on, a drawer pull and cupboard clip inside, and I now have a functional storage cupboard!!!
Now a mini cupboard
The original chest - a very sad state
A new coat as the kids' toy chest
Love it in its new spot

What an amazing idea. I love it!

Great "re-use" and "up-cycling" here! My favorite thing to do is to reinvent the wheel (proverbially speaking, of course!) My ONLY non-positive thought here is that the door opens from the wrong side for easy access from bed. (OK, my practicality just got the best of me here!) LOVE it! Great transformation!

@Beverly Hullender thank you very much, I get so much more use as a cupboard. The door was perfect for my side of the bed but now its been relocated to the craft area and holds all my paints etc - even better!
