Sunshine Yellow $12.99 Thrift Store Transformation

When I saw this $12.99 piece in the corner of my local Value Village, I knew I had to have it. I think the original purpose of this piece was an over-the-toilet etagere, but I won't tell if you won't tell...
I turned to you guys in a Hometalk forum to help determine what color I should paint it! It was a toss up between mint green and yellow, I went for the latter since I thought the room could use a little additional brightness.
Since the piece is a laminate material, I started off with a couple coats of my holy-grail Zinsser no-sand primer. I ended up removing the back piece since it was a little shabby, and using a staple gun to add a piece of foam board from the Dollar tree instead.
(see...proof).
I added 3 coats of Valspar satin paint in Mark Twain House Yellow (what a great name).
Head over to my blog to see the final steps!
