A similar question was answered here about a sound in the pipes: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/q-hot-water-pipes-rattle-when-hot-water-is-turned-off-1416529 Any other tips @Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com ?
hot water pipes rattle when hot water is turned off
  • That banging is caused by the water moving the pipes as the valves shut off quickly. Two things may have happened that started this happening. The water pressure in the house has increased either by a fault in the pressure setting on the valve where the water enters into the house or the street pressure has been increased. Or one of the pipes has come loose in its mounting allowing the pipe to strike the wall when it moves as the water is abruptly turned off. It is called Water Hammer. This may have been going on for a long time with out you even knowing this. Over time the movement of the pipe will loosen the hangers when at that point the pipe starts hitting something in the wall allowing you then to begin to hear it. The fix is not all that hard. If the majority of the noise is coming from the washer you can install air devices that will stop this from happening. This device can be screwed onto the exit pipes where the washer hose is placed or a plumber can install on the main line somewhere accessible to cover the entire house.

Water hammering. Installing air hammer arrestors at the washing machine may help the problem.
