Plastic spoon pendant light

Get a plastic bottle, lots of plastic spoons, hot glue and lots of patience and you have a gorgeous lamp! I made this for our hallway! I love turning it on and off! The economy lamp we used does not emit heat to melt the spoons or bottle!

I don't know why it would be a fire hazard anymore then the lamps you buy at the store. I bought a plastic pendant light at a store. that wouldn't be allot different then this. as long as there are some air holes for hear to escape , bulb wasn't touching anything and you didn't put a real high wattage bulb or the get bulbs that don't emit much heat. Most decorative lamps say not higher then a 40watt bulb. It is very cute.

Love this idea! Even better if you recycle after a party.

We usually use all red plastic at our gatherings, (if there are too many people to use china and metal, which I much prefer!) a red lamp would be lovely too, (If it isn't too near a curtainless window) (Amsterdam, HA!)

I think you all are thinking of an incandescent bulb which emits allot of heat. There are so many other bulbs available now that do not emit that kind of heat.

Certainly. Isn't cheap to make. It would be better to just buy a plastic lamp, I think.

it means more to you if you can make one than buy one. it just isn't the same. I love it and plan on making one for myself. thanks for the wonderful ideas.

Thank you all! Thank you Carla for pointing all these things out. i will say again, we used an economy lamp that does not emit heat. plus as Carla said about air going through, the lamp is open at the bottom and we use a small lamp, no more than 40watt. And it did not cost much. for the spoons, the lamp and the cord, oh and the glues we gave totally about 20 $. we got the bottle from a friend. Red spoons would look great i think or another bright color. you could use a spray paint for the spoons any color one likes!!!!!!!!!!

Very cute. And i can imagine that took a LOT of patience. For all the reasons mentioned I dont see it as a fire hazard either but you can also keep an eye on the spoons and bottle to see if you see any melty spots. Then you will know it is time to replace it. Most of the time my lights are not on long enough to get very hot and I usually only use 40 watts. Much more fun making things then buying them!

Oh Michelle....I can see this made in clear plastic spoons, and maybe a smaller bottle, and maybe a 15 or 25 watt bulb for ambience! Hang in a bedrom corner maybe! Or a bathroom! I love it!

A smaller bottle I might be able to handle, zozo.....you obviously have much more patience than I.

And Linda..yes, be careful where you put a red light! hahahaha I had comments on my pineapple! who knew? Still no activity or excitement here, tho!

LED lights don't emit much heat at all. Very safe for this.

thank you all very much for your comments and your time to see my work. led lights emit as heat as the economy lamp we used, if i am not wrong led lights are not very bright. it would more for an ambient lighting, certainly not bad! Maria, i did not know i had it, until i started crafting! you never know!
