Melanie on Nov 02, 2014Depends on the color. A lighter color keeps the room larger and if you paint with darker colors, the room looks smaller. I owned a paint store for 20 years. Most people painted lighter rooms with the same or off white, darker rooms, usually white or off white.Helpful Reply

Cyndi Moore Tippett on Nov 03, 2014I have painted all the ceilings in my stairs rooms, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I did it because it was easier than "cutting" in the ceiling but I love what it did for the rooms. If the color is light it seems to make the ceiling disappear, if it is a medium color it creates a cozy feel. I chose a bright color for one bedroom and it was to over whelming so I painted the ceiling white. You will be pretty safe if your color of choice is light to a medium color hue. I love mine.......give it a try.Helpful Reply

Mic M on Nov 03, 2014All my rooms have painted ceilings that match the walls. I think it looks "finished". White ceilings catch my eye when you have colored walls. In one room I used a pewter on walls, and a lighter shade on ceiling (just add some white) If you like the color, you will like the ceiling to match.Helpful Reply

Chris aka monkey on Nov 03, 2014@MARY FISHER in my case it is pure dee laziness cutting in the ceiling is soooo time consuming, painting everything the same you are done in half the time, i don't like dark colors so i am safe xxHelpful Reply

Susan Pittman on Nov 03, 2014My ceilings are the same color as my walls (SW Camelback) and my crown molding is white. It makes the crown stand out more than if the ceilings were the same color as the moulding.Helpful Reply

Gail Salminen on Nov 03, 2014@MARY FISHER I have done this in my bathrooms and part of my kitchen. It keeps the eye on your decor and is oh so much easier to paint. I too wouldn't do this with a dark paint but the light to medium tones it works very well. I also do not do on stippled ceilings - to difficult to get it even.Helpful Reply

AvonelleRed on Nov 17, 2014I think sometimes it's that they've accidentally hit the ceiling with the wall paint, and said "to heck with it", and just painted the ceiling the same color. Otherwise, I don't see the point unless you really want to see that same color every single place you look.Helpful Reply

Ansley Designs on Apr 06, 2015@MARY FISHER I love how everyone is saying its so much easier or faster than cutting in. OMG have y'all even painted a ceiling??? 2 or more coats of looking straight up with an awful crick in your neck! I hate painting ceilings....I'm dreading doing my downstairs! I do like having the ceiling be the accent wall. I did that in our nursery. Check out my blog! http://www.vivaciouslyvintage.com/Helpful Reply

MARY FISHER on Apr 06, 2015Yes, thank you all for response, I believe it would be easier on the eyes and neck to paint all the same color, but do agree, the dark would not be a good idea, but like moldings to stand out. I am 'RESOLVED'! LOLHelpful Reply

Wanda sinnema on Aug 15, 2015I NEVER paint the ceiling the same color......... I ALWAYS the same color with HALF THE TINT saturation it opens it up a bit.. It's not WHITE but lighter version of my color, always matches, AND is you ever need a bit more of the wall color for some reason, you can go back and have it matched again and get a very very close match for the touchup.. I learned this trick form a DIY dec shows years ago.. Lynette Jennings or Christopher Lowell, I think.Helpful Reply

Carolyn Spence on Feb 28, 2016Ceiling paint is thicker and does not drip. Hides imperfections easily. Dries fast. I use it also on walls that need a base coat under a new darker color. Love it!Helpful Reply
