I'm sorry, Christie, but I didn't write a tutorial. I just took the swing plans that I linked to in my post and altered them to reflect the inspiration swing.
ohhhh my goodness I just loveeeeee this swing!! I've had a love of swings since I was a child and now, well, I'd sure love to have one again....... memories are oh so sweet! thank you Gwen... someday.... I hope to have one!
PS- where could I find a pallet cheap and or free????? thank you!!xo
How did you take apart the pallets to re-use them? Nails used are spiral nails meant to stay put. I have tried to take the pallets apart but the wook breaks!
I found these in my neighborhood and the builder gave them to me for free! They were sturdy Oak Pallets and perfect for this project. Mary Jane Skrecz I used a crowbar and pried them apart. It wasn't that hard at all and the wood stayed together nicely. The boards are 1' thick, so they are a little better than your average Pallet that are made with thinner wood. Helen
AWESOME idea <3 <3 <3 would <3 to have one...maybe my boys can make me one for mothers day :) ;less expensive than rose bushes & since the crazy asian beetle ate most of my bushes
Great idea! My husband has some of these just "laying" around by his shed doing nothing, guess I can put them to some good use on my back porch? My porch is small so I am sure this can be modified to fit it.[ In his working days before retirement he was a carpenter] Thanks for the tip!
Making this easy to find directions for ppl on Hometalk seems to be a impossible thng for them...lol Maybe its so we look and look at everythng else? Maybe not but I seem to tink so!. Why not just make it easy?? However I did locate the directions for you Christy Cane-http://www.calredwood.org/Project+Plans/Project+Plans.htm
PUTTING MY HUBBY to work in his wood shop with this project. and while he is at it, he can make me lounge chairs, benches and regular sitting chairs from pallets also!! They will look great AT THE FARM!! We know of a place we can get many for free / THANKS.. { ME ]: Being dis-abled, there must be something I will be able to do while stuck sitting, just to help him. We will figure it out!!
This is a GREAT idea Gwen!!! Thanks so much for sharing with us. I'm going to start collecting pallets right away so when summer arrives I have a friendly Porch Swing to sit in!
The easiest way to disassemble the pallets is with a sawzall. Use a wrecking blade and you can cut through the nails.Place the blade between the 2X4s and the slat wood and you will have it apart in a few minutes. The rusted heads that remain in the boards add a rustic touch. Nice swing by the way.
