This is another item of furniture I got for free (yes I'm lucky I know ;p) Here's my first attempt at recovering it!
This had sooo many gross stains all over the cream crushed fabric! Yuk.
I started by turning it upside down and studying it! To see how I was going to strip it. I wanted to keep the fabric as much in the same shape as possible so I could replicate it.
Taking the side panels off - luckily I could reuse the foam and metal tack strips! The glue was old and dried up so came off easily, yay for me!
I made sure to see how it was attached around the legs, easily as it turned out - another bonus!
I made sure to pull it very carefully so I didn't rip it, then I could simply cut the new fabric in exactly the same shape.
Once I had pulled all the fabric off, I set about putting the new fabric back on! I used ALOT of staples and the staplegun. I used a little spray adhesive to attach the fabric onto the foam panels for the sides, and hammered the tack strip back on.
Here it is finished! Nice and clean, and looking smart again :-) To see my full post about how exactly I did this please come and visit my blog - the full post is there!
