My first samples with a new product.

These are all concrete. I can take any plain gray concrete and turn it in to beauty!! What a fun project!

These are taped except the flagstone. I spoke with the person teaching me this morning and asked about the grout lines and I actually pulled the tape incorrectly. Ah the learning curve~!

    Looks better than gray concrete!

Do you have something that looks like GA granite? How high about the soil can you stamp the pattern?

I think I could pull off the GA granite look. Not sure what the second question means??

Never seen this before. How do you get the concrete to take the color? Or is it mixed in with it? Nice

It helps - longterm - to add integral color to the overlay material. As when its scratched, your not looking at blanch white concrete. A sealer will keep the color enriched and protect it at the same time. It all goes back to prep and if there is excessive rising moisture vapor in the slab upon which this is being placed. We are working in Johns Creek tomorrow at a home where the overlay is bubbling and delanimating at various spots across the basement. The repair will entail opening ...»
up these "bubbles", cleaning them out, etching the surface, dyeing these areas black, then sealing with a lightly crosslinked commercial epoxy. When it comes to overlays, be very aware of any wet areas and address them appropriately! Good luck with your projects, your off to a good start!

Certainly does look better that just ol' boring concrete! Those are stamps for the most part to get the design?

Dan - The ashlar and diagonal patterns were achieved using 1/2 tape and my own made up designs. The random stone was achieved by layering wet concrete 1/4 inch and waited until it set up slightly and hand carved the stones.

congrats, brandon,,, sorry i miss'd the thread,,, WELL-DONE - you're beginning at a higher level of craftsmanship than most decorative conc artisans,,, g, the compressive strength of eliteCrete is approx 5,600psi so, unless brandon's troweling technique leaves ridges, chipping's not a usual problem,,, saw - this material is ' thinfinish ' & is normally installed at a depth of 1/8"max... to my knowledge, the only Georgia granite is quarried in the Elberton area - it can be matched.
