Made a Storage/Shelf with plastic crates for Daughters Room for $16

I found these small plastic crates at the store Five Below for just $2 a piece.

They connect together with a small peg and hole and a snap on the sides.

To hang, I simply drilled a hole in the bottom of each crate, used an anchor and screw to attach to the wall and Viola!

The hardest part was getting the stickers off the back. ;)

For those that have expressed concern about the height of the crates, my house is a cape and the upstairs ceilings are low. Two walls are slanted, so wall space is limited, I had to be creative. My daughter is almost 8 and is tall, so with the help of a small step stool, she can reach her toys. If your child is smaller, I would recommend hanging these crates lower.

Done at a child's height would be more functional.

my son Tiger has a tiger collection since birth (50 stuffed animals at least) hes now 15 but he loves them still, he doesnt touch them any more, so this idea would work perfectly for him, side note* his room is decorated in a wild animal print theme, perfrct for his age and incorperates his tigers beautifully

cooking spray is alo good for removing labels I like the idea of the baskets being higher. when your child wants to get something new that would be the time to teach putting the other stuff back,so Mom could use that before getting something else down.. seems to me kids never get the concept of putting stuff away

This is a good idea for that wierd space between my pc monitor and the wall. This can store games, storage disks, speakers, and be a place to display lightweight cha-cha's.

Blowdryer gets stickers off... And I love the idea, I just agree, would need to bring it down lower for my youger son. Up higher would work for my preteen, though...

It is a great idea for those things that you don't want to get rid of, decorating with toys is a wonderful idea no matter how tall things are

You can't tell from the picture, but the windows are low on the wall and not average size. My daughter is 8 and tall, so with a low step stool she can get the toys. If your child is small, I would recommend hanging lower. Thanks for the positive comments.

It's a cape style house and the second floor has low ceilings and two slanted walls. I am limited with my use of wall space.

Adorable. We added shelves all the way around our daughter's bedroom for her collectables and stuffed critters after she no longer wanted them on her bed, but wasn't ready to give them up yet. They were too high for her to get to except for the area above her loft bed.

Now what in the world could be cuter than this! Love, love, love! In kid's rooms there is never enough space for their junk so any idea is fantatice! I am retired and I want one for my room! HA! Hang them low where I can get to them....a perfect place for the tv remotes, magazines, the book I am currently reading, the telephone base, etc. There is a great corner near my bed where such as this would fit perfectly! Spray them black (classic) and put a white and black chair near along with a small lamp on top and it would be a reading nook.

Goof point Sheila. These can be stacked and put in clusters. This was just the best set up for the space I had.
