Succulents planted on pumpkins for a Fall Winter centerpiece for the Holiday/Christmas table.
You need a pumpkin that has a dip in the top so that there will be room for the roots of the succulents.

You need a package of sheet moss.

You need a spray adhesive.

You need some succulent plants.

Spray a little adhesive on the top of the pumpkin and lay about 1 inch of sheet moss in the middle of the pumpkin and a single layer around the edges as shown in the picture.
Succulents have the wonderful ability to grow roots from their leaves. You can break off a leaf and lay it somewhere, give it a little water, and it will be able to live until it grows roots.
I bought some succulents that were different sizes, different colors, and different textures. The moss is also another texture. I started by putting the little "flower" succulent in a prominent place - it almost looks like a rose.
I love succulents. They are so interesting. I placed the tall ones in the center and worked my way around putting some plants with different colors and textures here and there around the pumpkin. You can glue them in if you want with a little glue and they will hold there until they grow roots.
I love the way some people have hollowed out pumpkins and used them for flower vases but I wanted something that would last longer. The skin of a pumpkin is thick and can last months.
Since I was having so much fun with the pumpkin I decided to try my hand at a little gourd so I found a gourd that had a dip in the center and planted some moss and succulents on the top of it. Fun.
Hope you enjoyed this. Try it for yourself!! It makes a wonderful centerpiece for the holidays!
