I finally finished making over a side-of-the-road table! It was my first time using homemade chalk paint, too!

    You did a great job. This is a beautiful table. I like the way you stained the top. What a score to find this cute drop leaf table on the side of the road! Drop leaf tables are so nice because they don't take up a lot of room but provide a lot of table top when you need it.

    It looks lovely Jenny. I too like that you left the top stained. It adds a richness that an all painted piece just doesn't have.

    Did you make the table runner? It's very pretty.

    This looks great wow! I've been wondering after seeing all these furniture makeovers, what is the benefit of using chalkpaint instead of just using spray or regular latex? It is more durable?

    Thank you!!!

    I did make the runner! It is actually a couple of napkins that I stitched together! http://daysofchalkandchocolate.blogspot.com...

    This is adorable! I love how you kept the dark chocolate wood and painted the rest bright white. So what do you think of your homemade chalk paint? Did you like using it? Are you pleased with the results?

    Love this table! I have a similar one that I rescued from a second hand store. It had layers upon layers of paint....several different colors. I stripped off all the paint and uncovered a beautiful hardrock maple surface! It is one of my favorite things in my home!

    I get so jealous when I read "found on the side of the road" I have never found anything good on the side of the road. I have been looking for a table like this for a while now. I love what you have done with it. I am going to save this post so I can refer back to it when I find mine.

    Carroll, I think that's mostly an east coast thing. We never find things on the side of the road here either.

    @Becky I also think is a big city thing. People just don't leave things at the curb for trash pick up either. But then again our sanitation department changes extra if its not in the can and its cheaper to haul away your self around here.

    Could be Carroll, though I've lived a few larger cities around the country and they didn't do it like I've heard from my friends in the upper East coast areas. They even have certain times of the year where they have bulk pick up. Folks set out their large items early so others can drive around and take what they want before the garbage trucks come by and take them.

    I have noticed recently ads on our local CL were folks post curb alerts, but it's often junk. Nothing like my EC friends find.

    this is true Becky. We often find things at the end of driveways that are free for the taking. And then we also have trash week where you can put anything out and the garbage man will take it. THAT is when I like to drive down Highland Ave where old money lives....fun!

    That would be nice. The only thing we have here is twice a year they will do brush pick up and even with that its huge restrictions.

    Oh I would love to be with you then Marg! I bet that's a blast. I have a friend with a pick up that does just that. Well not that Ave, but areas like that in her NY area.

    yes, it is exciting to see what I might find :) When I see it or hear of it happening I'm like "oooh oooh I gotta get over there" and it's all that's on my mind until I satisfy my curiosity. :)

    I bet. I'm sure my hubby is happy that we don't do that here. I already more than enough extra pieces of furniture. 8^}
