The yard at my house was a shambles when I moved in.

It became my project over the next 5-years while going to school & looking for employment. Kept me busy!
What it looked like when I first moved in.
Looking back down towards the street. Very dark.
Looking at the house from the street--beginning cleanup.
My front view from the porch.
The ivy growing up the side of the garage wall, to the eves!
After removing the ivy from growing up the side of the garage wall, and under the eves.
This was after trimming the shrubs.
This was the side entry to my yard from the sidewalk. What a mess!
The side yard. This tree had to come out. It was blocking light to all other yard growth.
after removing the shrubs in the front. The tree & honeysuckle eventually came out, too.
Installing retaining wall and drain ditch prior to installation of fencing.
My mailbox location, before moving to other side. Kids used to knock it over, reguarly.
Look closely--do you believe that's carpet? The whole yard is covered in carpet, at various locals!

You had your work cut out for you removing that ivy. Good choice in removing the tree, it was too big for the space. People don't realize what a plant or tree will look like at maturity. Good job.

Wow, even though the changes look simple but they do add some life into your yard. I agree that prior to the changes, the place did not look homely or cozy, but now things look more pleasing to the eyes. You must have gone through quite a lot of work there with the removal of the shrubs and so on. Good job and you are definitely an inspiration!
