I am not ready to see mums, but pansies, absolutely! -
Me too, Douglas! It is that tricky transition time of year and pansies keep the garden interest going, don't they? -
I cut the top a couple of pumpkins one year and filled them with potting soil and pansies. When it was time to change for the seasons, we dug a hole in the flower beds and drop the whole pumpkin in, scooped the soil back around it and they lasted forever, even iced over. -
Nice idea, Tammy! Just might give it a try myself this Fall : ) -
my mums are already starting to bloom. I'm not sure here in the great white north if they would survive our cold temps at night (went below 50 last night!!)

Pansies love cool weather, Nancy. They'll keep going right through a light frost. -
thanks Doug I still have flower boxes on my porch railings. I removed all the impatients but still have the long growing ivy. so maybe I can get some to keep color going on. ty

Nancy my mums are starting to bloom to, it was that weird weather we had this summer. But mine make it through our cold winter every yr & I don't cut them back til early spring to shield the spring flowers from the frost we still get. -
if on west coast So Cal definitely cant do pansies yet... too hot! -
Yep. you are right, Susan! Do check your zone - here in the Mid-East it is time to get those pansies in so they get established before the cold weather. -
Barb R, I can't wait to see what you will do next. -
Wow! Thanks, Sherrie! I am glad you like my projects and carrying-on!
