Our local Wells Fargo Bank needed a small work station with open shelving. A quick trip to Habitat for Humanity and we came home with a sad little cabinet. 4 hours later, we had a complete transformation.
Our goal was to make it look like an old Wells Fargo stagecoach trunk.
Here's what it looked like originally. I removed the door and drawer and then my husband took over.
He first removed the top and all the nails.
The cabinet needed to be just 12" deep so his next move was to cut off the front of the entire cabinet.
After a few turns on the table saw, it was cut to size.
We used scraps of wood we found in my parent's barn for all the trim.
We then stained the entire piece with dark walnut stain.
To make it look more rustic, I dry brushed Seattle Mist Chalk + Clay Paint from CeCe Caldwell's Paints Collection.
I made a stencil with my Silhouette Cameo and painted it with Simply White.
The shelves will hold baskets so I kept left them alone.
This would make a great coffee table too. Just add casters or decorate wood feet. It was a fun Sunday afternoon project for my husband and I to work on together!

Jeannie Andrews on Dec 10, 2014Hello. So rare to find someone from the West Coast on here. I wondered where all the Washington ladies were. We must have some good ideas, too. And here you are! Thanks for posting step by step process of the Wells Fargo project. Good pictures too.
