NIce job Nancy! I can almost hear those waterfalls from my house. -
Nancy your pond is beautiful. What is the size of the pond and how high is the waterfall from the water level and in what state/city do you live? -
Yours looks like a seasoned pond; all in harmony. Very nice job. More pictures? -
Nice pond and waterfall Nancy, the fish look happy! -
You and your husband did a great job, Nancy. That pond must give you a lot of pleasure. -
Very pretty, so pleasing -
Stunning! Wow! This was some big job! I only wish I were young enough to do one! I love it when "people" instead of the professionals posts a photo like this. (Nothing against the professionals, but it does have a different feeling when a couple of amatures do such a fantastic job!) -
Incredibly beautiful. Your hard work shows. Do you live in a place where you can enjoy this all year? Here in the northeast, fall and winter make a mess of backyard ponds, etc. But this would be SO nice to have! -
To answer some of the questions: I live in the northeast (CT). Every fall we clean out the dead leaves and plants and just let it freeze over with a small heater that makes one hole for toxic gasses to escape. The pond is only 2 - 3 feet deep, but the fish stay over in the pond and we haven't lost one yet! As a matter of fact, each spring we get more babies! We built this 3 years ago - 3 weeks of back breaking labor (mostly my husband!) but it was worth every minute!

Nancy thanks for the answers for us curious, fellow pond lovers. I can't believe you two finished it in 3 weeks. Boy, you were really moving fast! There's nothing like the beauty of something you've created yourself. Personally, I'm never sure if I am amazed I came up with the idea, or awed because I could pull it off, not to mention complete satisfaction of the idea and fully implementing the plan, to have it turn out exactly as I'd wanted it. You and hubby did a great job! -
Remember to add your beneficial bacteria to help keep the water clean. Just keep an eye on the fish levels. At some point, you will have to cull the fish because they will overpopulate and create water quality issues. Right now, everything looks great and the water is clear. If you ever have any questions, we are located in Hamden, CT. at 12 Crestway (off Sherman Ave). 203-287-0636 www.TJB-INC.com -
Nancy C, don't worry about culling the fish. All you have to do is find someone like me that takes in the unwanted. All but two fish in my pond came from someone who had too many. -
My bad - you ARE in the northeast, like me. This makes me admire your work all-the-more. I know what a job it is to rake and clean out the gutters and little spots that collect fall leaves and debris. Wonderful work!
