Douglas Hunt on Sep 12, 2012I don't know how large your ginkgo was when you planted it, Nancy, but it is not surprising to me that you have not seen much growth. Trees take a good amount of time to get established before taking off. If it is leafing out and otherwise looks healthy, I wouldn't worry too much at this point. If it's in full sun, make sure it is getting plenty of water. It wouldn't hurt to give it an application of a good all-purpose slow-release fertilizer, like Plant-tone, this fall and again in the spring.Helpful Reply

Nancy Rhodes C on Sep 12, 2012Oh OK I can wait Douglas. After all the worry over the Cork Screw Willow and the Hemlock being planted in the wrong direction to the sun, I feared I had done something with the Ginkgo a year before. I just cleaned out really good around him so he should be happy. The other two are hanging in there. I certainly do hug them. Thank you so much.Helpful Reply

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Sep 16, 2012Dr. Dirr says it is a medium grower, 'probably 10-15' in a 10-12 years' though with adequate water and fertilizer they have been known to grow faster. But just remember (the exception of annuals and vegetables) first year they sleep, second year they creep third year they leap.Helpful Reply
