Help me get rid of pantry moths!

They're so disgusting, and they're everywhere. I've thrown out anything with grain.I've put out traps. But still they fly in my face whenever I open the door. How do I get rid of them?

We have a similar problem, I bought one of those blue~light zapper thinggies you see in cafes and bars permanently turned on in the pantry ~ we just had to sweep up the bodies every other day, but this seems to have done the job ~ no more critters!

@Lisa Kaplan Gordon, I bought a trap (wish I could remember the brand!) that is a sticky trap, with pheromone scent or something to attract them. The moths just fly into it, get stuck and pretty quickly disappear from your cupboards. Very inexpensive, easy, no mess, no fuss. They came 2 to a package, basically white color with green and maybe some brown in the design. My memory could be wrong on the color. But it worked like a charm. Just sticky traps for pantry moths. I got it at the grocery store. And no sweeping up moths. :) Good luck!

That's a great idea. Where did you find it and how much?

Whenever you buy flour products you should put them in the freezer for 4 days - to kill any larvae/bugs that are in all flour products! I always do this with bags of flour, especially. Sometimes they are in pasta, too.

Good tip. I opened the oatmeal and thought I'd pass out.
  • I put bay leaves in all my kitchen closets & food closets. The pantry moths disappeared within a few days & haven't been back since! That was 3 years ago when I moved into a new apartment!

I have the same problem . I think I have gotten rid of them only to find them flying around next month . I have everything sealed also a lot in my extra refrigerator . I go crazy when I see one I'm sure guests must think I'm crazy with the effort I put into it's demise.

Hi. We got them once in a bag of millet purchased for our bird at the time. Mine didn't go away until we had our kitchen gutted and redone, but I also found that they were living in the back of a hutch in my dining room. Once I removed all of those cobwebby things there, they were gone.
