Jill Feigelman on Nov 18, 2014I love the idea of putting wheels on the piece for movability. I think kids really value that. You can check out some toy storage ideas here: http://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=toy+storage+ideasHelpful Reply

C on Nov 18, 2014So, as I read, it sounds like what you really want to create is a grocery/retail store? Here's my idea :) I see the one on the left has a flip down door front on the top.... I would remove that & mount it in between the 2 stands in order to create a "cash register counter" that the clerk would stand behind. Also, rather than, the usual, turning the drawers into shelves {hard to reach items at the back} Instead, I would remove 3/4 of each drawer front {so there is only a bottom lip remaining} That way they would be slide-out shelves :)Helpful Reply

Nancy Gray Moore on Nov 22, 2014When I was teaching math and students were learning about making change and making purchases, I set up a store in my classroom. I used empty boxes of cereal, ketchup, etc as items and placed price tags on each. Students used their desk chairs as grocery baskets and went down each aisle selecting items. One student used a toy cash register with Monopoly money to check out customers. Students changed roles and continued shopping. Great fun and practical experience!Helpful Reply
